NFC Statement Regarding End of COVID State of Emergency

On the morning of June 28, 2021, Governor Ricketts announced during a press conference that Nebraska would be ending its state of emergency declaration at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. The emergency declaration has been in effect since March 13, 2020.

Governor Ricketts also announced that he expects all schools in Nebraska to return to in-person learning in the fall and will not require anyone, vaccinated or otherwise, to wear masks. He also stated his expectation that schools will not mandate the vaccine in any capacity. We applaud and support Governor Ricketts expiration of the state of emergency and his pressure on the schools at large.

However, we want to emphasize the fact that under this state of emergency, these “mask

mandates” from local municipalities, and any vaccination mandates are entirely unconstitutional and should have never been implemented to begin with.

Especially in light of the information exposed by Fauci’s emails, these Draconian measures

taken by local, state, and federal governments were not in fact about public health or safety, but rather an attempted power grab on behalf of these institutions to implement fear and control over the daily lives of We the People.

We commend Governor Ricketts for his leadership: in keeping Nebraska amongst the best

governed states in the nation during this pandemic, working to keep fatality rates from the virus low, getting kids back into schools, and protecting the livelihood of so many workers by refusing to shut down the state.

Repealment of coronavirus executive orders and the state of emergency is long overdue, but we are grateful to be taking steps in the right direction.
